Mad Cow Disease Found in US Cow

The USDA has confirmed the first case of mad cow disease in the U.S. in six years.

The brain-wasting disease was discovered in a dairy cow in central California, John Clifford, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief veterinarian, told reporters today in a briefing in Washington.

This is the fourth case of the disease found in the U.S. herd since the first in December 2003, in a cow that was born in Canada.The sick cow has been euthanized and the carcass is being being held under state authority at a rendering facility in California and will be destroyed. Source: KTLA
